In a totally miraculous turn of events, we had snow on the ground here in Texas on Christmas Day! None of the weathermen predicted it; in fact, they even said there was a 0% chance of any snow on Christmas. A few flurries were predicted for the morning of Christmas Eve, but that was it. We've never had a white Christmas in this area of Texas. Never. It snows about once every 10-15 years, but never on Christmas.

This time, there were small flurries all day Christmas Eve, and then around 7:00 p.m., it started snowing steadily. Snow fell off and on until after midnight, and the ground was just cold enough for it to stick for a while. So when we woke up Christmas morning...

The view from our driveway.

Looking down the street.

Our front yard didn't have as much on the ground, because the trees caught most of it.

But there was plenty in the back yard! These darker pictures were taken at 6:00 a.m., when I wasn't sure whether the snow would last long once the sun came up. Fortunately, I was wrong.

Christmas lights and snow.

The snow coated everything that was out in the open - sandbox, grill, toys, chairs. Look at the phone line to the upper right, even!

Denise's ferns had a pretty thick coating. But they'll survive. Those things can survive anything, I'm convinced.

The treehouse had an extra-thick layer of snow in it!
