So what's the news on Resurrection?

6/29/02 - I haven't needed to write anything here for a long time. But ch. 36 is delayed due to rain, so I should at least let you know how things stand for the future. Everything is rolling along, and other than weather problems, I don't foresee anything stopping the regular updates until the story is done!

5/11/02 - Things are still going well. I'm going to run into a problem when I get back to the ravine in the story, since I don't have a ravine right now... But I'll be taking a vacation from work the first week of June and hope to get most, if not all, the rest of the photography done that week. And I'm working on the script for the next dio-story after THAT! :)

4/07/02 - Well, it's been a while. But Resurrection is BACK! I have a new digital camera of my own (thanks to our great President and his tax cut). AND I'm planning on keeping the pace going here. As long as things continue as they are, I should be able to maintain the chapter a week goal. If I have extra time, I'll even try to get some up faster than that!

12/30/01 - Bad news. Resurrection will be taking a break. I don't know exactly how long it'll be. Here are the reasons: lack of digital camera access, other immediate writing projects, and weather. I've got a lot of the photography already taken, but it depends on location. For example, I have all of chapters 24 and 29 shot, but I'm missing much of 23 and others. Getting the use of a digital camera will be very difficult at present, and the winter weather complicates things even more (my "desert" is currently covered in wet, fallen leaves). I want to get going again as soon as possible, but at the moment, I don't know when that will be.

12/10/01 - Status Report. Since the last time I updated this page, I've kept up with the one-chapter-a-week deadline. I should be able to keep that up for two more weeks. After that, I may take a short (I hope) break for Christmas/New Year's, and because I have some more photos to shoot. Unfortunately, I may have trouble getting the digital camera for a while. I'll keep you updated.

10/22/01 - It's back! And I have enough pictures taken to last through Christmas, one chapter a week, at the least! And there was much rejoicing...

8/14/01 - Ah, finally, the crucial event. These two chapters, 11 & 12, set the stage for all the big stuff that'll be coming later. Photography is still progressing, slowly.

7/16/01 - Things are looking good for the next 3 chapters. After that? Time will tell...

7/09/01 - Ah, at last... Chapter 6. I'm not sure when 7 will be up, though. But the good news is that photography is moving along at a good pace. I've taken 389 main photos so far... and have 492 to go! At least, I've gotten all the photos with the main sets done (the Terror-drome & the Joe HQ that debuted in this chapter). Got a lot of other scenes left to film at the ravine, out in the middle of the desert, back in the swamps of Florida, etc.

6/16/01 - Here's chapter 3. 4 and 5 will both follow fairly soon. Be prepared for a gap after chapter 5, unfortunately. There's a LOT of photography still to go...

6/07/01 - Well, as you can see, we're making serious progress now! I have shot all the photos for chapters 1-5, and bits and pieces of later chapters. Unfortunately, tropical storm Allison is hampering conditions for any more photo shoots at the moment. Gotta let everything dry out...

5/21/01 - I borrowed a camera and took a LOT of pictures over the weekend, shooting most of the non-desert scenes. However, since the very first scene DOES take place in the desert... it may be a couple more weeks before you see it.

5/14/01 - Still don't have the aircraft carrier, but it remains a strong possibility. BUT... I posted Serpentor's profile today. And it will be the LAST profile. That's right. The last. Why? Well... because I've started shooting! Took my first pictures today! I'll be working on the non-desert scenes for a week or two until I work out the sand deal. Next week won't see the first chapter, but I DO hope to have some preview shots or scenes to show you, at the least!

4/13/01 - Got a lead on an aircraft carrier. If it works out, I'll be able to shoot those scenes myself instead of having someone else do them. Sorry that this is taking so long. Between all the other things I've had to do recently, there just hasn't been any time for this project. I expect to really get to it in mid-May.

3/26/01 - I've gotten some feedback on the script and am making a few minor changes. To keep momentum building here, I came up with the concept of creating "profiles" of many of the major characters in the story, giving away hints about the storyline, and generally whetting your appetite for more. Zartan is first.

3/20/01 - The script is now DONE. Resurrection is 44 chapters. I have a couple of people reading it over and offering suggestions, criticisms, etc., so there may still be a few changes.

2/23/01 - More customs up. The script is making good progress and nearing the climax. So what does that mean? Here's a basic plan: once the script is done, the next step is to build the set. Since this is a desert story, I'm planning on getting a load of sand for our back yard (which needs it anyway to build up some low spots). That'll probably be Spring before that happens. Then I'll "film" the entire story all at once, except for a few indoor shots. After that, I'll do the effects, and hopefully post a chapter a week here, starting in late Spring/early Summer. At least, that's the goal.

2/04/01 - Added my custom GI Joe chaplain figure, Rev. Rev is a major character in this story.

2/02/01 - I finished the ninja chapter. As groans echo across the world wide web, I'll emphasize that it's ONE chapter, out of 30 so far... That'll also give you an idea of how big this story will be. Iconoclasts had 20 chapters with an average of around 15 pics per chapter. Resurrection is now over 30, and the average length is more like 25 or so. Also today, I sketched out a more detailed plot for what's left. Yes, I had an overall plot, but I needed to work out more details of the finale. You know: the exact order things happen, who shoots who, etc.

1/11/01 - Is that a date or a binary code? Anyway, not a lot has happened for a while. I wrote two more chapters today.

12/28/00 - Added a custom Grand Slam figure. Grand Slam has a pretty big part in the story.

12/19/00 - Not much new. But I decided to start posting the rest of my customs made especially for Resurrection to make up for the lack of news. Here's Breaker.

12/12/00 - Check out this custom figure. Who is this old-looking guy? Is he friend or foe? I'll give you just one hint - he has a lot to do with that guy with the cowl in the picture to the left...

12/11/00 - Today, I had more time to write another chapter on the script, this one featuring an absolute crucial turning point in the story, giving more focus on characters like Grand Slam and Tollbooth. Every Joe and Cobra I have gets used in this story (and some that I don't have!).

11/13/00 - Basically, here's how things stand: I'm about 2/3 done with the script, which is the biggest job, in my opinion. (If the story doesn't work, it's all just pretty pictures, right?) Thanks to a suggestion from my good pal Warflight, a large section of the script was re-written recently to include a major, MAJOR event, something that turns this story from just a battle between GI Joe and Cobra to a world-shaking event. Serpentor is back and he wants EVERYONE to know it!
