Bio: David "Ash" Briquette is an intelligent, angry man and a bit of a control freak. When he was a kid in Montreal, he wanted a pony for Christmas. His parents bought him a "Jr. Chemistry Set" instead. His response was to use the set to burn the house down. In and out of juvenile detention centers throughout his formative years, Ash developed a love for chemistry and especially pyrotechnics. Kicked out of three different Colleges and Universities for "unsafe experiments" he eventually developed his abilities and expanded his knowledge base through online college courses and home studies.

Unable to hold a decent job due to his criminal record (mainly arson charges resulting from his latest experiments), Ash joined Cobra in hopes of using their scientific resources to hone his skills. He was assigned to the Incinerator corps with the promise of promotion to research and development later on. Unfortunately for Ash, he joined Cobra around the same time that Dr. Mindbender was secretly working on a way to revive Serpentor. As a result, his requests to use the Cobra chem. labs were repeatedly denied since Mindbender was utilizing them for his "unofficial" work.

This all came to a head one day when Ash discovered Mindbender's secret and then directly confronted Dr. Mindbender about his use of the labs. Naturally, it didn't go well and Ash torched the labs in response. Mindbender's work was set back, but not completely destroyed (Serpentor's body was at an undisclosed location and thus was not harmed by Ash's firestorm). Of course, Mindbender couldn't report the full truth about why Ash burnt his labs so, he focused on Ash's hot temper as the reason for the incident, which had enough truth to it to remove any suspicion away from Mindbender and instead implicated Ash.

Ash left Cobra and went underground vowing to destroy Mindbender, all of his work, and Cobra as a whole for their sins against him and humanity. During his time underground he learned of a group of people whose sole purpose was the defeat and destruction of Cobra. That group was G.I. Joe. He managed to contact the Joes, who were interested in what Intel he might be able to share with them concerning Cobra operations, but was denied a request of joining the team. He was however, referred to Mercer and the Renegades. Ash agreed to join the Renegades and now fights with them performing the missions deemed too "dirty" for the regular Joes to deal with.
